May the Peace of Christ be with you.
On February 2nd , there is a great event occurring at Gordon College outside Boston. It is called Open Boston and it is a youth ministry event that is likely to live up to its name. It is open to all faiths – ecumenical in nature… How can we learn from each other? It is open in that everybody can bring “stuff” into the conversation. And, it is only $25 for the day… so it is open in price for a day of training and vision. Learn more about it at http://boston.openym.org
I have been blessed to be invited as a presenter… to get a conversation going regarding Communication. But there are lots of other folks and topics like Recruiting and Training Volunteers for Ministry; The Severity of the Call; The Authority of Authenticity in Youth Ministry; A Call to Create Culture, and Helping Your Students Think Globally (just to mention some of them!)
The Youth Cartel, I believe, is onto a new model of conferences here and we should support it. Catholic friends who attended the first Open in Seattle were very enthusiastic about their experience. With all that being said, I am going to put my money where my mouth is….
On my blog this past Monday, I announced that I will match the first four Catholic participants who register with a scholarship for a co-worker, best volunteer, spouse, or any other adult that they can get to tag along with them. All they have to do is register for 2 and use the promotional code “TEA PARTY”. I will pay for the second person.
It would be great if you could pass this info along Monday to your parish and school contacts. The blog posting, which will go live Monday am, can be found at www.catholicYMblog.com/2013/01/07/open-boston
